Me and my crew would like to express our sincerest gratitude for the security services rendered to us during our transit at the pirates infested region of GOA. The guards assigned on board did a terrific job of maintaining a heightened security readiness at all times in case of any eventuality. Their rotation of 2 guards on standby on a 4 hourly shift basis is recommendable. I have noticed too, that when there's any suspicious boats lurking around in the vicinity during the passage, all of them are called to standby and are ready to thwart any attempt to attack the vessel. It was truly heartening to see all of them doing their job with utmost concern. I hope those guards will maintain the positive attitudes that they have shown and performed on board and to always live up to their duties to defend and maintain the ship safe and secure at all times. Thus helping also to the success of the goals and aspirations of all concerned parties i.e. "Having a smooth and safe voyage at all time", for which at the moment is threatened by insecurity in the region.
Moreover, in my honest personal opinion, the presence of armed guards on board is preferable and highly recommended. I and my crew never felt a single touch of fear for fear itself is the last thing that comes into our mind while those guards are with us.
Surely too, because we all believed that the best defence for those armed pirates/bandits is to counter them equally with the force of arms. Indeed, we give credit for the company that has provided us this invaluable security armed escorts. Needless to say, all the lads onboard are happy and we slept well and good during the passage. We dearly hope that in our next GOA transit, we'll see those armed security escort back again on board.
On ref to your email msg below, the group of Yemeni Armed Security forces who are boarded my vessel from Nishtun on 08 Oct 2009 at 0928 LT and dis-embarked in Hudaidah Rendevouz point are the most diligent to his duties, guarding the vessel for the interest of the owners, charterer and safety for the crew /officers onboard against the rampant place from Somalia pirates. During our passage along the coast of Yemen, we had observed the soldiers in good manners, active to their duties in round clock basis watch. Everytime if there is a target closer to our vessel, they had already on standby and alert together with my crew/officers onboard. But in this passage we do not have experience of any attempt by the Somalian pirates and arrive and clear/safe from the risky places of infested areas by the Somalian pirates. I can say that the Yemeni Security soldier forces are one of the best, to protect the safety of the vessel, cargo, and crew onboard, than to compare to other security forces with no armed. I am looking forward your services in the future.

No Warning shut report from the soldiers, due we didn't see any small crafts from Nishtun-Hudaydah passage.

The six men who boarded in Al Hoedaidah and disembarked in Nishtun were re-assuring to have onboard and a boost to the vessel morale. They kept a good lookout with three men on duty on the bridge wing at all times. They were professional and conducted themselves well.
Rendezvous times were well kept this voyage with no waiting times, the launch came out the extra few miles to meet us so personnel transfer at both ports was early.

At first I note that we appreciate deeply presence of Armed Team on board. They kept round-the-clock watch on the open deck and we successfully passed Gulf of Aden thanks to the team solely. We found them reliable and their behaviour was highly disciplined. I believe strongly that each crew welcomes Armed Team as all-important anti-piracy ship's defence. I very much liked your service. Soldier are well disciplined, tidy in a life, accurately carry out the duties. Have in due time reacted to a piracy attack. My opinion, that method of boarding of a Security Team – is the most effective of safety and protection of crew of a vessel against attacks.

The service provided was excellent. Apart from keeping our vessel safe from pirates it also made both the crew and myself feel much more at ease passing through the GOA.
